    The main problem with acne scars is that they lie bound down and depressed, lower than the surrounding skin. In order to raise up the scarred area, dermal fillers may be used to bring the skin to an even level.

    Dermal fillers that may be used include hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane® or Perlane®, collagen fillers such as Cosmoderm®, or even fat tissue. The problem, however, with utilizing dermal fillers for acne scar improvement is that the treatment areas will need repeated injections as dermal fillers are break down within our body over time.
